Split PDF

Extract selected sections from one PDF or turn every page into a separate file—useful for reports, contract attachments, and scanned documents.

In supported browsers, your PDF is read and split directly on your device. GoOmniTools does not actively upload the file to servers it operates in order to perform the split.

Split method

Every comma-separated range becomes its own PDF.

How to split a PDF

1. Add one PDF

Choose or drop a PDF and wait while the page reads its file size and total page count.

2. Choose a split method

Enter one or more page ranges, or select “Split every page.” You can replace the file or revise the settings before processing.

3. Process and download

Select “Split PDF.” A single result downloads as a PDF; multiple results are bundled into a ZIP so you can save them together.

Two ways to split your document

Extract page ranges

Enter ranges such as 1-3, 5, 8-10. Each comma-separated part becomes its own PDF, making it useful for extracting a chapter or separating an attachment.

Split every page

Create a separate PDF for every page in the source file. This works well for separating scanned material or breaking a large document into smaller page files.

PDF or ZIP output

One result is downloaded as a PDF. When multiple ranges or per-page splitting create several results, the tool packages them in one ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

How should I enter page ranges?

Page numbers start at 1. Separate single pages or continuous ranges with standard commas, for example 1-3, 5, 8-10. Spaces inside ranges or around commas are accepted, but other separators and descending ranges are not.

What happens when I enter several ranges?

Each comma-separated part becomes a separate PDF and is numbered in the order entered. Overlapping ranges are not merged and repeated pages are not removed, so the same source page can appear in more than one result.

What if a range is invalid or exceeds the page count?

A blank value, invalid syntax, a page below 1, a descending range, or a page beyond the document total produces an error and stops the split. The tool does not create a partial result.

Why does splitting every page produce a ZIP?

Per-page splitting normally creates several separate PDFs. Packaging them in one ZIP lets you download all results at once instead of saving each file individually.

What are the file and page limits?

On desktop, one PDF can be up to 180 MB and 450 pages. On mobile, the limits are 70 MB and 180 pages. “Split every page” is further limited to 350 pages on desktop and 120 pages on mobile to reduce browser memory pressure.

Can I split an encrypted or damaged PDF?

No. This version cannot unlock encrypted PDFs that require a password, and it rejects damaged, invalid, or unreadable files. Unlock or repair the document with software you trust before trying again.

How is my PDF processed?

In supported browsers, the file is read and the results are created directly on your device. GoOmniTools does not actively upload the PDF to servers it operates in order to split it. Capability can still vary with the browser, device performance, and document structure.
