Why compress images in your browser?

Many online image tools upload your photo to a server before returning a smaller copy. GoOmniTools processes images in your browser: reading, resizing, and re-encoding happen on your device without sending the original image to our server.

This is useful for travel photos, product images, work screenshots, and private pictures. The tool uses the browser Canvas API for general-purpose compression rather than professional lossless encoding; very large images may take longer depending on your device.

When is it useful?

  • Make multi-megabyte photos smaller before uploading to a website.
  • Reduce attachment size before email or messaging.
  • Optimize product photos, blog images, and social posts.
  • Meet upload limits without sending the original image online.

Frequently asked questions

How are my images processed?

In supported browsers, images are read and processed directly with Canvas. The tool does not intentionally upload the originals to GoOmniTools-owned servers to perform compression.

Which formats are supported?

JPG/JPEG, PNG, and WebP are supported as inputs. You can keep the original format or convert to JPEG or WebP.

Why is PNG sometimes not much smaller?

PNG is lossless, so simply saving it again may not reduce the file as much as JPEG or WebP. For a smaller file, try WebP or JPEG and adjust the quality.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The interface is responsive and image processing still happens on your phone. Very large images may require more memory and processing time.
